Vagator Beach

Adjoining the famous Anjuna Beach, Vagator Beach is a little more laid back, though still pretty much steeped in the same Goan culture.

Vagator beach is about 20 Kms from Panaji in Bardez Taluk, North Goa. It comprises a series of small beaches and close to Chapora fort. There are natural water springs at one end of the sea.

About Vagator Beach

The two prominent beaches here are the North Vagator Beach (Big Vagator) and the Little Vagator beach (Ozram beach). These beaches are separated by a stretch of land which acts a flea market selling souvenirs, hats, T-shirts and collectibles.

This beach is famous with the party crowd and hosts trance and dance parties during New Years' eve. There are a number of pubs and restaurants serving Goan / Mediterranean cuisine.

Accommodation

Accommodation can be found by way of guesthouses run by families and small hotels. There are few Luxury hotels if you plan to stay here for a longer time.

Attractions

Besides the breath-taking beaches, Vagator has other attractions also to offer. From Goa Vagator beach, you can see the 500-year-old Portuguese Fort. It takes you down the memory lane depicting the Old Portuguese era.

If you want to hike up to this fort, climb up those black rocks and reach this fort, once inside the fort, you won't mind the fatigue you are feeling because the view from this fort is absolutely stunning, you get to see wide expanse of greenery and the blue sea till your eyes can reach. You can hire a motorcycle from Panaji and ride down here.

How to reach Vagator

There are a number of buses that run from Mapusa and Calangute Beach to Vagator Beach. To get here from Panaji, you must first take a bus to Mapusa.

The bus stand for buses to Mapusa is on the main road which is about 1 km from the beach. The nearest interstate bus station is at Mapusa, the KTC bus station.

To get here from Calangute or Baga, it is best to take a taxi or a motorcycle taxi as there is no direct bus.
