Udipi Sri Krishna templeUdupi is known for the Temple of Lord Krishna. The temple was founded by the Vaishnavite saint Shri Madhvacharya in the 13th century. 60 kms north of Mangalore is the famous temple town of Udupi.
It is here that the Saint Madhvacharya lived and preached 700 years ago. The famous Masala Dosa has its origin here.

Udupi lies close to the Arabian Sea and therefore has a tropical climate all throught the year. The temperature ranges from 30 to 35 degrees centigrade in day time and is around 25 degrees during the night.
Humidity is normally high most of the time. The rainy season is from April to September. Monsoon is between June and October is is fairly heavy.
The best time to visit is between November and April when the weather is pleasant.

City and suburban buses are available for travel within Udupi and suburbs. The buses originate from the suburban bus stand (City Bus Stand). Auto-rickshaws and taxis are also available in plenty.
