Tourist attractions around Karwar

The Om Beach at GokarnaKarwar is used as a base to visit numerous tourist places in Uttara Kannada district. You could from 2 or 3 days to a week exploring all the places around here. 

Karwar is also a good alternative to India's most popular beach destination in Goa.

If you have seen Goa and would like to try another beach destination, Uttara Kannada (and Karwar) offers many options. 

The atmosphere here is much quieter; one day you could be exploring nature in the Western Ghats and the next day you could be snorkeling in a pristine beach. So pack your travel gear, have fun and start exploring.  

  1. Trekking at YanaMurdeshwar is located on the west coast, famous for Shiva Temple. 
  2. Bhairavakshetra in Yana.
  3. Banvasi (near the border of Shimoga) is famous for Madhukeswara Temple, Veerabhadra Temple, Buddhist Stupa, Jain sculptures and idols.
  4. Chennabasaveshwara Temple at Ulavi is a pilgrim centre.
  5. Honnavar is a coastal area famous for Apsara Konda Falls, Idagunji Ganapathi Temple.
  6. Wildlife Sanctuary at Dandeli is spread over 205 Sq.kms. This area is also famous for suspension bridge, caves and Sykes point.
  7. Kali River Valley is a gorgeous place for viewing the river belt (boating facility available at Karwar). Magod, Lushington and Sathodi water falls.
  8. Natural Shivalinga is at Kavala Caves.
  9. Gokarna is famous for Ganesha, Ravana, and Mahabaleshwar Temples (which is considered next in sanctity to Kashi Vishwanatha temple).
  10. Kudle, Om, Baithkola and Devbagh beaches have a spectacular sea view and resorts are also available in Devbagh. All the beaches are picnic spots.
