Shivaganga is a conical shaped hill, which offers a breathtaking view from the top. There are two shrines dedicated to Lord Gangeshwara and Goddess Honnadevi.
It is located around 60 kms from Bangalore (Bengaluru) via Tumkur Road. There is a fresh water spring called Pathala Ganga.
Shivaganga / Sivaganga / Shivagange Hills
This hill has four faces, and it looks like Nandi from the east, Ganesh from the west, Linga from the south and hood spread Cobra from the north.
You will have to park your vehicles at the fot of the hills and will have to climb for about 20 minutes. The view on the top is scenic and gives you a look at Tumkur and outer areas of Bangalore. Watch out for monkeys that will try to grab at your foodstuffs. Keep a stick handy to shoo them away.
Regular KSRTC buses are available from Tumkur (20 kms) and Bangalore (Bengaluru). Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses are available from Tumkur (20 km).
Go to Sivaganga if you are looking for a weekend drive out of Bangalore and if you fashion hill climbing.
How to reach: Take the Tumkur Road until Dobaspet (about 50 plus kilometers) and head to Shivaganga from there (about 10 Kms)
Where to Eat: Tumkur is the only decent place to eat though the choices are less there.
Close to Sivaganga is DevrayanaDurga, which also houses a temple atop a hill and offers scenic views and Nijagallu Village and Hills if you are looking to experience village culture.
