Saddle Peak

Saddle peak is the highest point of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and is located in North Andaman Island. It is around 2400 feet high and you can get a scenic view of the island once on the top.

Saddle Peak is located about 200 kilometers from Port Blair and the nearest town is Diglipur.

Saddle Peak National Park is a national park that is part of the Saddle Peak area. It covers an area of 33 square miles (85 km2). Among the animals found there include the Andaman wild pig, water monitor and the imperial pigeon.

You have to, however, get permission from the Forest department to enter Saddle Peak. The climb to Saddle Peak is easy and is steep at a few places. The trek route passes through areca nut plantations, coconut trees, a beach and lush rainforests.

It takes about 5 hours to reach the top of Saddle peak. Start early in the morning and carry enough snacks and water with you as there is nothing available in the peak. Guides are available at the Aerial Bay Jetty if you ask around.
