How to reach Srirangapatna - Srirangapatna can be easily reached by road or train from Bangalore or Mysore. It's about 20 Kms from Mysore and about 120 Kms from Bangalore.
By Bus
Buses ply regularly from Bangalore to Mysore stop at Srirangapatna bus-stand. You can then take an auto rickshaw or a tonga (horse-cart) to go sightseeing around the town. Buses originate from the Bangalore Bus Stand at Majestic or the Mysore Road Bus Stand in Bangalore
By Train
Train from Bangalore to Mysore stop here, however you can check the Indian Railways website timings for avialabilty and schedule. The Mysore Passenger (from Tuticorin - Train No. 6731) and the Mysore Express (from Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu) are two options if you want to reach early. There are, however, several other trains at all times of the day.
Local Transport
Autos can be hired from near the bus stand, taxis are available too. Most of them understand hindi or english, get hold of someone who does.
For a pre-determined price, they will take you to most of the places of interest. Price, as almost always in India, is negotiable, so ask 3-4 drivers before deciding.
Walking is another good option, maps and signposts avaialble, so getting around should not be difficult.
Tongas or horse-drawn carts are also popular. They can take you to all sights in Srirangapatna for a negotiable price.
