Hyderabad is well connected by air to most major Indian cities. A few international flights to Middle-east countries, Frankfurt, Singapur, Malaysia, Srilanka also operate. A new airport was completed and has been operational from mid-2008.
Auto rickshaws and taxis are available for local trips from here. Other important airports of the state include Tirupati, Vijaywada, and Vishakapatnam.
There are three train stations-Hyderabad or Nampally, Secunderabad and Kacheguda. Secunderabad is the main station from where one can get trains to all major towns/cities of the country.
Indian Railways have booking counters at all major stations and there are also several service points in major cities/towns that do online booking as well. Andhra has a wide network of railways. Several major trains pass through the state and stop at major stations within AP and therefore the state is well connected to rest of the country.
Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is the State Govt undertaking who run the inter-state and intra-state services in AP. Semi-luxury, Luxury, Deluxe, and Super Deluxe A/C coaches run between major towns.
This apart, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation operates overnight services and package tours to suit the tourist needs.
Andhra Pradesh borders several states. In the northwest is Maharashtra, directly north are Orissa and Madhya Pradesh; in the south lies Tamil Nadu and to the southeast is Karnataka. There are several entry points from all of these states, and inter-state buses run by the government as well as privately operated coach services are comfortably available.
You can even come on your own vehicle if travelling from neighbouring states. Take National Highway 7 or 9 from Maharashtra; NH 9 passes through northern Karnataka before entering Andhra Pradesh. Coming by NH 5 through Orissa take you on a wonderful journey down India's Coromandal Coast (eastern coast).
Vishakapatnam is the major port of the state, while Kakinada, Machilipatnam, Bheemunipatnam, Krishnapatnam, Vadarevu and Kalingapatnam are the minor ports.
