Neil Island

Neil Island is about 40km Port Blair, the capital town of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This beautiful island with lush green forest and sandy beaches is the vegetable bowl of Andamans. This island is inhabited mainly by Bengali settlers.

There are snorkeling facilities here but some of the corals have been destroyed due to excessive use of dynamites for catching fish.

There are also a number of scenic beaches here which are identified by numbers. The No.1 beach is about a 40 minute walk from the village of Neil Island. Here you can find visitors camping under the shades of coconut trees under umbrellas and hammocks.

Beautiful beaches at Laxmanpur, Bharatpur, Sitapur and the bridge formation on the sea-shore (Howra bridge) are the attractions. You can get immersed in the simple village life here and mingle with the locals to know more about their traditions and customs.

Neil Islands is connected by boat from Port Blair four days a week; it provides an ideal holiday for eco-friendly tourists. Hawabill Nest guest house of the Directorate of Tourism is situated here (Tel: 82630).
