Mandya is an agricultural town in Southern Karnataka, India. It is located on the Bangalore - Mysore Highway. It is about an hour's drive from Mysore (the city of Palaces) and about 2.5 hours drive from Bangalore (90 Kms).
Mandya district comprises of seven Taluks - Malavalli, Maddur, Nagamangala, Krishnarajpet (K.R Pet), Pandavapura, Srirangapatna and Mandya. Mandya is famous for its cultivation of Sugarcane crops.
The famous Brindavan Gardens also come under Mandya (though it is popular on a Mysore tour).
It also has other attractions such as Shivanasamudram (Bluff), India's first hydroelectric station, Srirangapatna - Tipu Sultan's ancient capital and the Melukote Cheluvarayanaswami temple among others.
