Kalpeni is formed by three uninhabited islands (Islets) of Pitti, Tilakam and Cheriyam. Koomel is the curved bay where the tourist facilities and a resort is located. Kalpeni's main attractions are the corals, the white sandy beaches and the water sports activities.
Virgin Beach at Kalpeni IslandA peculiar feature of Kalpeni is a huge bank of coral debris along its eastern and southeastern shorelines. This coral debris was washed ashore due a fierce storm in the 1850s.

Like other Islands in Lakshadweep, you can swim, snorkel or reef-walk in the vast lagoon and indulge in water sports on kayaks, sailboats and pedal boats. If you'd like to experience more of the sea and the scenery, take a pedal boat ride and see the beauty of the islands; Good for photography too.
Two bathing huts with change rooms are available at Koomel Beach Resort. Four tourist cottages are available for overnight stay.
