Iruppu Shiva Temple and Iruppu Falls is about an hour's drive from Madikeri in Coorg, Karnataka.
This is a very important holy place and pilgrimage center situated at 48 kms from Virajpet very near to the Kurchi village of South Canara on the banks of Lakshmanthirtha River, where a Shiva Temple had been constructed. This is situated on the Brahmagiri Range.
Iruppu FallsOn Maha Shivarathri day people from all over the place assemble here. They take a dip in the river Lakshmanthirtha (a tributary of river Kaveri), and offer prayers to Lord Shiva.
Around Irupu, towards Wyanad(in Kerala), there is another peak Brahmagiri Shikara, which is known for its natural beauty. You can have a panoramic view the hilly range and valleys from the top.
There is a temple dedicated to Rama, surrounded by paddy fields, from which point it is a climb up to the falls through natural forest.

How to reach:
Irupu Falls is about 20 Kms from Nagarahole Wildlife sanctuary and about an hour's drive from Madikeri. You can hire a taxi from here and proceed towards Virajpet route. The nearest town is Srimangala which is about 10 Kms away. It also has a hotel and a petrol bunk.
