Great Nicobar Island is 540 kms by sea from Port Blair and about 50-60 hours journey by sea. It is one of the the important spots in the Nicobar group of Islands in the union territory of Andaman and Nicobar.
Great Nicobar is the southern end of the Nicobars and is located at a distance of 540 kms from Port Blair and it would take about 60 hours journey to reach this place by sea.
The southern most tip of India is located on this island and is named as Indira Point (formerly Pygmellion Point). The beach near Galathia is the nesting ground for Giant Leather Back Turtles. This island also has biosphere reserve area.
