Forts of Goa

Goa's history can be seen in the many forts that dot Goa's landscape.

Built by the Portuguese to overcome opposition and also to show their prowess, it stands today as historical monuments that draws visitors to learn about Goa's past. 

Among Goa's Forts, Fort Aguada, Chapora Fort, Fort Cabo-de-Rama and Reis Magos Fort. Read below for accounts of some of these ancient historical monuments.

Chapora Fort

The Chapora Fort gives a splendid view of the nearby Anjuna and Vagator beaches. The fort has been well preserved except a few interesting ruins.

The Fort of Aguada was built by the Portuguese to control the entry of enemies into River Mandovi and to protect old Goa from any attack.
