Diglipur

Diglipur is located in North Andaman Islands at about 300kms from Port Blair (by road) and around 180 Kms by sea. There are buses daily from Port Blair; you can also catch daily ferry boats from Mayabunder or the weekly ferry from Port Blair.

The only river in Andaman Islands, Kalpong river, fows through Diglipur.  If you come by road from Port Blair you have to take a boat from Mayabunder to Kalighat and from there journey by road to Diglipur (25 kms), and from there to Kalipur (18 kms) for viewing Kalipur and Lamiya Bay Beaches. Saddle Peak, at a height of about 4500 feet is a popular trekking spot, close to Diglipur.

Decent accommodation is available at Turtle Resort, Kalipur run by the Department of Tourism. The Water Sports Centre is near by. Those who want to go for trekking to Saddle Peak can collect trekking equipments on hire from Turtle Resort and start trekking from Kalipur.

There is also an APWD guest house with about 12 rooms; you'll have to book the rooms from the tourist office at Port Blair.

You can catch up on turtle nesting & breeding spot at Ramnagar beach, which is about 15 kms from Kalighat during December - February season. One who comes by boat from Port Blair will reach Aerial Bay jetty, which is very near to places like Diglipur and Kalipur.
