Mysore is situated in the southern region of the state of Karnataka, at the base of the Chamundi Hills. It enjoys pleasant climate all year round, like its neighboring city of Bangalore. Because of its weather and its old world charm, it is sometimes referred to as "Pensioner's Paradise".
This was because many people from Karnataka considered settling in Mysore after retirement (especially those from Bangalore). Even now Mysore is a less noisy and peaceful city than Bangalore but it seeing development in terms of a number of Software companies setting up offices here.
You can visit Mysore all year long, but the best time is between August and June (when the rains are less). If you don't mind travelling in the rain, you can drop into Mysore anytime!

Mysore has several lakes such as Karanji, Lingamabudhi and Kukkerehalli to name the important ones. It is also located between the rivers Kaveri and Kabini which supplies water to Mysuru and surrounding regions.
