Goa's churches are another attraction apart from its beaches. Many of the churches here were built during the Portuguese occupation; most churches are concentrated in Old Goa, close to the state capital in Panaji.
Though many of these churches have a distinct European architecture, churches built later (after the Portuguese rule) carry a blend of Indian and Western building styles.
These Churches also served as a place for development of Christianity in this and surrounding regions of India.
