A beautiful Monastery with three large and imposing Golden Buddha statues and in a serene setting beckons you. The temple has 62 feet Buddha statues covered with gold plates is a wonderful sight anytime.
The highlight of this town is the Namdroling Nyingmapa Monastery & Golden temple. The Dalai Lama visits this place once every year. The monastery is home to a sangha community of over five thousand lamas (both monks and nuns), a religious college (or shedra) and hospital.
It consists of a number of small camps/agricultural settlements close to each other, and has a number of smaller monasteries, nunneries and temples in all the major Tibetan Buddhist traditions.

Bylakuppe is about 150 Kms from Bangalore. You can take a bus until Coorg and get down at Kushalnagar. You can also ride by a bus until Srirangapatna and then take a bus from there to Kushalnagar or Coorg.
The best way to reach here is to hire a private cab from Mysore or Bangalore.
You need to take a right turn on the Bangalore-Mysore highway, right after Srirangapatna and proceed towards Coorg. After about half an hour, you need to take a left at Kushalnagar to reach Bylakuppe.
The Bangalore-Mysore highway is excellent to drive. However the approach roads to Coorg and Kushalnagar are in a state of construction and will slow down the journey time.
