Belgaum Tourist Attractions

Though Belgaum itself doesn't have many attractions, you can however use it as a stopover see other destinations such as Goa, Hubli-Dharwad, Bijapur and Bidar.

Some of the tourist attractions in Belgaum are:

Jamboti Hills

Jamboti is located 26 km south-west of Belgaum and 18 km west of Khanapur in the Belgaum District of Karnataka, India.  Jamboti is a must for walkers and nature lovers. Pick your favourite spot here on the evergreen hilltop. The forests around reverberated to the sound of tigers and bears earlier are serene and quiet today.

Mandovi River, the longest river in Goa, with the beautiful Varapoha Falls has its origin in the Jamboti hills. Jamboti can be reached via Belgaum.  Belgaum Airport is 28 km to the south-east of Jamboti. Khanapur Railway Station is the nearest railhead. State Highway 31 passes though Jamboti.

Vajrapoha Falls

Vajrapoha Falls is situated amidst enchanting hilly surroundings of the Jamboti forest is a fine spot. To reach it one has to travel from Jamboti unto a point four km beyond Chapoli and then cross the river (only in December and January) Mahadayi twice (in between is a small hill) finally leading to an elevated flat hillock.

Here the river Mahadayi flowing in a serpentine fashion takes a first jump from a height of about 60 meters.

Kittur

This place is located off the Dharwad-Belgaum Road and is of historical importance. The story of braveness displayed by Kittur Rani Chennamma in tackling the British is a legendary one.

She was one of the prominent of India’s first freedom fighters.  Rani Chennamma’s statue stands sentinel over Belgaum at a prominent square.  Kittur Fort and the archaeological artefacts are something one should not miss to see.
