View of the Om Beach at GokarnaKarnataka is blessed with over 300 km of pristine coastal stretch. Netrani Island of Uttara Kannada is well known for coral reefs. St. Mary's Island, a few kilometers from Udupi is famous for its basalt rock formations.
Karwar, in Uttara Kannada (North Canara) district is an underrated destination dotted with serene beaches and beautiful seas. Gokarna, close to Karwar, is also getting famous with trekkers and alternative beach seekers with its isolated beaches.
A feature of the beaches in Uttara Kannada district is that on one side you can see the mighty sea while on the other is the lust forests of the Western Ghats.
Along the coast of Dakshina Kannada (South Canara) district, you can find numerous beaches in Mangalore, Malpe, Maravanthe, Bhatkal, Murudeshwar, Kumta and other smaller beaches.
