What to shop for while you are holidaying in Andhra Pradesh? There are many things for you to take back home - art works, clothes or mementoes.

Hyderabad is famous for its fabulous pearls and gem stones and metal craft. Old Hyderabad, particularly around the Charminar is packed with shops selling these.

An enormous variety of pearls from black and pink pearls to rare Basra pearls and Japanese cultured pearls are available here.

The up market shopping centers in Vishakapatnam, Hyderabad and Secunderabad are also well known for designer wear and furnishings boutiques.

The crafts of Andhra Pradesh are many. Kalamkari and Buddhist Nirmal paintings, buffalo hide puppets; Ikat garments and the delicate silver filigree of Karimnagar are all in great demand.   

Silk woven into a primarily cotton fabric, ‘himroo' was the cloth of choice for the luxurious garments of the noblemen. Pochampalli, Dharamavaram, Venkatagiri and Narayanpet are known for special variety of saris.
