Bangaram Island Resort hosts The Lacadives, a small dive center that is the first and only CMAS (an international underwater-sports federation) dive organization in India, with its headquarters on the island of Kadmat. Additional Tips for Diving tours in Lakshadweep

  • Trained instructors on Kadmatconduct a scuba diving course. In Dive Package for Beginners, domestic tourists will be charged Rs. 24,000 per person for an 8 day course. For each additional day, Rs. 1500 per day will be charged.
  • In Dive Package for Advanced Divers, domestic tourists will be charged Rs. 1500 per day per person. Dive charges will be extra.
  • Foreign nationals will be charged US $ 65 per day per person. Dive charges are extra @ US $ 30 per dive or US $ 50 per day for two dives.
  • All diving equipment will be provided.
  • Swimming skills and a doctor's certificate declaring the candidate fit for diving are mandatory.

Other Adventure activities - Snorkeling, Kayaking, Fishing, Boating, Wind-surfing and Marine-Life Watching

If you're not a qualified diver, you can rent a mask and try snorkeling in a nearby lagoon, where an assortment of marine fauna will demand your attention. The Resort can also organize big-game fishing with help of local boats.  But anglers should bring their own equipment.  

The vast expanses of the shallow lagoons provide an ideal setting for water sports enthusiasts. All the islands included in the various tourist packages offer kayaks, pedal boats, sail boats, wind surfers, glass-bottomed boats and other facilities to tourists who wish to indulge in water sports in the unpolluted lagoons.

Kadmat, Kavaratti and Bangaram have facilities for scuba diving. Deep-sea fishing buffs can pursue big game fishing. Barracuda, Sail Fish, Yellow Fin Tuna, Travelly and Wahoo are abundant in the seas around Lakshadweep.

The Society for Promotion of Nature Tourism and Sports (SPORTS) is a society in Lakshadweep registered under the Societies Act of 1860. The main aim of the organization is to promote eco-friendly tourism and recreational activities in the islands in collaboration with the Lakshadweep Administration.

The holiday packages drawn up by SPORTS, provides the tourist with a memorable and an unforgettable experience in eco-tourism.  At the same time, it protects the environment and do not upset the delicate balance between man and nature.

Best Season to Visit

All the resorts in Lakshadweep are open throughout the year. However the period from October to May is ideal and popular for tourism. Islands like Agatti and Bangaram are pleasant even during the monsoon period since the rainfall is scanty.

During monsoons, transport from Agatti to Bangaram is only by helicopter ferry. All lagoons remain placid and calm even during monsoon period.

The rainy season presents a breathtaking experience when the vegetation looks greener than ever and the veil of rain adds a different dimension to the beauty of lagoons and the blue seas beyond.

Some Do's and Don'ts advised by SPORTS & Lakshadweep Tourism

  • Do make sure your reservation of tour in advance before leaving your station.
  • Do carry your special brand of medicines, cosmetics, cigarettes etc. as only ordinaryvarieties will be available on the islands.
  • While on board the ship, a representative of SPORTS has been specially designated toassist you. In case of any difficulty, please avail of his services.
  • Do not litter the land or the water. It pollutes.
  • Do not pick up corals as souvenirs. It is a punishable offence.
  • Take care. There is prohibition on all islands except Bangaram
  • Do not carry narcotics or drugs. It is a punishable offence.
  • Do not swim or sunbathe nude. It is prohibited.
  • Do not go out of your island lagoon without permission from the authorities and withouta proper escort. It can be risky.
  • Do not pluck tender coconuts yourself. The trees are privately owned and unauthorizedplucking of coconuts is a theft. Also a fall from the palm can prove dangerous.
