Lumbini Gardens is a new attraction in Bangalore. It is located near Hebbal flyover and is on the Nagavara Lake. It has been developed with a grant of Rs 10 crore.
Major attractions of the park include boat rides, wave pool and children's garden. Though Lumbini Garden is not huge, it gives you a chance to relax with yor family and friends over a weekend.
There are two boat rides - a larger one, which takes you around the lake. Take this if you are a big group. There is also a speed boat ride for individual rides. A guide sits behind you while you zip away at speeds between 60 - 80 Kms an hour. This is a short ride but worth a try if you'd like some thrill.
The artificial wave poolThere is an artificial wave pool and a children's play area. This section is the most crowded and the most enjoyable in this park. The length of the pool is about 100 meters.
You can take a dip here and enjoy the waves though they aren't huge. There are decent changing rooms and toilets. Carry shorts or swimwear if you are planning to get into the water.
On special occasions like festivals and such, music shows and parties are conducted. New Year Bashes are also held here.
There is a park area further left of the lake where you can relax watching the lake.
Food stalls are available but there aren't too many options and the quality is also not much to speak about. If you are really hungry the safest option is to order the 'Plain Dosa'.
There is however, a Coffee day outlet where you can grab some snacks.
If you plan to spend your evening in a good restaurant and head towards KR Puram (on the ring road). After about 3 -4 Kms, you'll find the Ginger Greens Restaurant on your left (after the Lingarajapuram signal). It has decent food and a pleasant ambience. There is also an attached bar, but that is in a different section in the restaurant.
Location: Nagavara Lake / Tank. From the Hebbal flyover, it is about 2 Kms towards KR Puram. Buses are available from Nagavara to major bus-stands.
